Patrick T. Henry is President of the Henry Consulting Group, a sole proprietorship specializing in healthcare and marketing. Most recently he served as the Senior Vice President for Federal Government Programs, Delta Dental of California.
Mr. Henry graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1972, and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Henry was the distinguished graduate of the Marine Officers Basic School at Quantico, Virginia, and the distinguished graduate of the United States Army Armor School at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He held command and staff positions in Marine Corps tank units and served on the staff of two Secretaries of Defense. In 1975, Mr. Henry was selected as an Olmsted Scholar and completed two years of study in International Relations at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris, France. Additionally, Mr. Henry has been a Visiting Fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
In 1992, Mr. Henry retired from the Marine Corps and became the Chief of Staff of the American Red Cross, a position he held until joining the professional staff of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services in 1993.. Mr. Henry served on the Armed Services Committee staff until he was appointed as Assistant Secretary of the Army Manpower and Reserve Affairs on August 6, 1998. His principal responsibility was the overall supervision of the functions of the Department of the Army relating to manpower, personnel, and health affairs. While Assistant Secretary he also served as a Commissioner on the Presidential Commission on Holocaust Assets in the United States.
He holds a Master of Public Administration Degree from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Fletcher School. His awards include the Secretary of Defense Award for Outstanding Public Service, the Secretary of the Army Award for Distinguished Civilian Service, the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
