Cognitive Medical Systems Doubles Sales in 2015

January 28, 2016

SAN DIEGO – January 28, 2016 – Cognitive Medical Systems, an advanced concept engineering company specializing in standards-based solutions to complex clinical workflow and decision support problems, announced today that it garnered sales totaling $17 million in 2015, almost double that for 2014.

While the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) renewed several agreements with Cognitive Medical Systems, the company continued to diversify its customer base, most notably with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD); Cognitive is on the Leidos/Cerner team for the DoD Healthcare Management System Modernization IDIQ. The company also secured its first Prime Contract—the VA’s Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Gap Analysis project.

“We are proud to be leading the ACGME contract and expect more opportunities to prime in 2016,” said Douglas W. Burke, Cognitive Medical Systems President and Co-founder. “Our success allows us to pay it forward by partnering with today’s up-and-coming companies as well as advocate for open clinical decision support standards.”

Current partnerships include Health Net, Technatomy, Booz Allen Hamilton, Hokukahu, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and Accenture.

In addition to its health IT services, Cognitive is set to pilot its second turnkey product, NeoCare, in several commercial healthcare delivery systems in 2016. NeoCare is a Clinical Decision Support (CDS) platform that plugs directly into a hospital’s EMR and continuously analyzes changing patient information to surface any gaps in patient care.

“We’re actively expanding our operations to make this happen and are in the market for software developers to add to our team,” said Burke. “It’s a great opportunity for anyone wanting to join a fast growing company and to positively impact the lives of patients.”
