Cognitive Medical Systems Hosts First CIMI Connectathon
– The meeting, in conjunction with the HL7 conference, offers participants opportunities to further the standard and HIT interoperability –
SAN DIEGO – September 1, 2017 – Cognitive Medical Systems, a specialist in standards-based Clinical Decision Support (CDS) software and healthcare IT infrastructure, announced today it plans to host the first Clinical Information Modeling Initiative (CIMI) “Connectathon” at its offices in San Diego next week ahead of the September 2017 San Diego HL7 Working Group Meeting.
CIMI is an HL7 Working Group whose mission is to improve the interoperability of healthcare systems through shared implementable and fully specified clinical information models. The Connectathon will be held in Cognitive’s San Diego offices from September 6 – September 8, 2017. Cognitive Chief Scientist, Claude Nanjo, says “The CIMI Connectathon offers an opportunity for engineers who are involved in the development of tools to promote health IT interoperability to come together and align their efforts, collaborate in the definition of a common tooling and infrastructure roadmap, and also to identify opportunities for active future collaboration
“The Goal of this initial Connectathon is to gauge the interest out there and to formally develop a distributed open source community that shares the desire for healthcare IT interoperability” said Cognitive’s CEO, Dr. Emory Fry. Participants in the event will include Cognitive, The Mayo Clinic, HL7, OpenEHR Community, Intermountain Health, MITRE, Penrad, the Healthcare Services Platform Consortium (HSPC) and the Object Management Group (OMG).
