Cognitive Medical Systems Names Clark, Melling to Advisory Board

SAN DIEGO – January 16, 2015 – Cognitive Medical Systems, a specialist in standards-based Clinical Decision Support (CDS) software and healthcare IT infrastructure, announced today Jonathan Clark and Jon Melling, FHIMSS, have joined its Advisory Board.
The combined 50-plus years of deep domain expertise in IT, healthcare, corporate development and executive management experience will be of big benefit to the fast growing company.

Melling’s international experience both as an IT systems consultant and major vendor in healthcare goes back more than 25 years both in the UK and U.S. He started his career with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and subsequently held senior positions with First Consulting Group, Ernst and Young, First Data Health Systems and ACT Medisys (Misys Health). Melling helped build HealthSystems Group in the UK into a leading health informatics consultancy. He also served as President of the Arizona HIMSS Chapter for two years (2010 to 2012) and was awarded Chapter Leader of the Year in 2011. Additionally, Melling chaired the HIMSS Healthcare Business Solutions Committee for the past two years and sits on a number of HIMSS Task Forces including ICD-10, Revenue Cycle Improvement and Accountable Care.
Clark is a seasoned strategic and tactical corporate development executive with more than 20 years experience in advising boards, executives and private equity groups on growth strategies, emerging trends and policy issues to help increase market share and maximize shareholder. Among other roles, he served as Managing Director for financial services firm powerhouse BB&T’s Capital Markets division and has managed a multitude of cross-functional teams with responsibility for defining goals, monitoring performance, training and motivating colleagues as well as adjusting priorities to achieve desired results. In his career, Clark has structured more than $2 billion in complex transactions, negotiating with lawyers, shareholders, executives and financing sources that drove critical deal parameters to required objectives while vigilantly identifying and mitigating risk.
