Cognitive Medical Systems Named 95th Fastest Growing Private Company in Nation

– Company skyrockets to top tier of coveted Inc. 5000 list in first year of eligibility –

SAN DIEGO August 13, 2015 Cognitive Medical Systems, a specialist in standards-based clinical decision support software and healthcare IT infrastructure, was named this year’s 95th fastest growing private company in the United States.

The company was placed as such in the coveted 2015 Inc. 5000 list in its first year of eligibility.

“We have achieved a stellar 3,499% percent growth over the last three years, and that is completely due to the hard work and dedication by our rapidly growing team of software engineers, program managers and healthcare professionals,” said Cognitive Medical Systems’ President, Douglas W. Burke. “It’s been an exciting time for us but equally so for our valued clients as we develop intelligent systems that enable better healthcare decision making and workflow orchestration.”

Cognitive Medical Systems specializes in an area called clinical decision support—technology that providA0007216_00001_1es information for doctors, nurses and patients at the point of care that is contextually relevant to the care setting and the patient’s electronic healthcare record. The company’s competitive advantage is in providing this data in real time, and in a workflow-sensitive way, to help simplify the complex clinical decisions that define modern healthcare.

The first product, launched earlier this year, is based on Cognitive Medical Systems’ mobile clinical quality data capture and analysis tool that is in use today in the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of North Carolina (PQCNC). PQCNC is a quality improvement consortium comprised of 185 neonatal intensive care units across the U.S. Cognitive Medical Systems’ solution allows doctors and nurses to capture clinical quality data at the point of care quickly and efficiently using an Android or Apple® mobile device. The data is then sent to the company’s clinical decision support platform in the Amazon Web Services cloud, which analyzes the data in real time and provides actionable advice to the clinical care staff at the bedside.

The company’s ultimate goal is to have a range of products that plug into the major electronic healthcare record systems to deliver evidence-based clinical information and decrease costs.

The Inc. 5000 is an annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. ranked according to percentage of revenue growth from 2011 through 2014. Businesses must have been founded and started generating revenue by the first week of 2012, and therefore able to show four full calendar years of sales to qualify for consideration. Revenue must have been at least $200,000 in 2012 and $2 million in 2014.

The listing comes on the heels of the company being named the fastest growing privately held firm in San Diego by the San Diego Business Journal in July.
