SAN DIEGO – February 11, 2015 – Cognitive Medical Systems, a specialist in standards-based clinical decision support software, announced today that its 2014 sales grew 50 percent from the year prior to more than $9 million.

The company also increased its staff over the same period by 150 percent to 48 and has several software developer and software engineer job openings available.

“We’re increasingly in demand by government and healthcare organizations for our clinical decision support offerings that focus on the patient and provider,” said Douglas W. Burke, President of Cognitive Medical Systems. “We’ve been cash flow positive and profitable for the past two years – all are significant milestones for a four-year old company – and recently launched our first commercial product. This is an exciting time for us as well as the industry that we serve. We’re proud to be taking a leadership role in it.”

Cognitive Medical Systems specializes in an area called clinical decision support; technology that provides information for doctors, nurses and patients at the point of care that is contextually relevant to the care setting and the patient’s entire healthcare record. The company’s competitive advantage is in providing this data in real time to help simplify the complex clinical workflows that define modern healthcare.

The first product launched just last month is based on Cognitive Medical Systems’ mobile clinical quality data capture and analysis tool that it is in use today in the Perinatal Quality Collaborative of North Carolina (PQCNC). PQCNC is a quality improvement consortium comprised of 180 neonatal intensive care units across the U.S. Cognitive Medical System’s solution allows doctors and nurses to capture clinical quality data at the point of care quickly and efficiently using an Android or Apple® mobile device. The data is then sent to the company’s clinical decision support platform in the Amazon Web Services cloud that analyzes the data in real-time and provides actionable advice to the clinical care staff at the bedside.

The company’s ultimate goal is to have a range of products that plug into the major electronic healthcare record systems that will help to increase positive outcomes and decrease costs.
