– Program provides eligible military veterans access to specialized care –
SAN DIEGO – December 16, 2013 – Cognitive Medical Systems, a specialist in standards-based clinical decision support software, was recently named an IT infrastructure vendor for Health Net Federal Services, LLC’s, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT) Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Patient Centered Community Care (PCCC) program.
The program provides eligible Veterans coordinated, timely access to care through a comprehensive network of non-VA providers who meet VA quality standards when a local VA Medical Center cannot readily provide the care.
“We’re honored to work with Health Net to serve those who have honorably worn the uniform of the United States’ military,” said Mary Lacroix, CEO of Cognitive Medical Systems. “There are a great deal of moving parts that must come together in order to get Veterans the care they need when they need it. We take pride in being the backbone of this initiative as it falls in line with our mission to empower the sharing of vital data for patients, payers and providers to make real time, patient-centric healthcare decisions that can positively affect outcomes.”
Under PCCC, VA medical centers will have the ability to purchase non-VA medical care for veterans through contracted medical providers when they cannot readily provide the needed support due to geographic inaccessibility or limited capacity. Health Net’s contract covers Regions 1,2,and 4 which encompasses all or portions of 37 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
