Cognitive Medical Systems to resell, integrate AWS GovCloud

SAN DIEGO – Monday December 9, 2013 – Cognitive Medical Systems, a specialist in standards-based clinical decision support software, announced today that it is authorized to resell and integrate Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud into the company’s offerings. AWS GovCloud is designed to allow U.S. government agencies and customers to move sensitive workloads into the cloud by addressing their specific regulatory and compliance requirements.

Burke, President of Cognitive Medical Systems. “We already have our first client for the relationship with Health Net Federal Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, Inc. (NYSE HNT) where we’ll be building their entire Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Patient Centered Community Care IT infrastructure in the GovCloud. The solutions we will build on this platform for them and other agencies will be at the FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) Moderate or higher security levels.”
According to the company’s website, the AWS GovCloud framework adheres to U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as well as the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMPSM) requirements. FedRAMP is a U.S. government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. AWS GovCloud has received an Agency Authorization to Operate (ATO) from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) utilizing a FedRAMP-accredited Third Party Assessment Organization (3PAO).
