Retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel, bio-pharma executive joins Cognitive Medical Systems as CEO
Military veteran Christina Murphy holds 25 years of experience leading teams from five to 600 in operational, financial growth initiatives
Cognitive Medical Systems, experts in helping large public and private organizations make the most of their comprehensive healthcare IT investments, announced today its new CEO, Christina Murphy.
The retired U.S. Marine Corps Colonel and bio-pharma executive holds more than 25 years of experience in leading teams from five to 600 in achieving financial and operational growth initiatives.
“We’re thrilled to have Christina onboard as I transition to my full-time work in leading Cognitive’s spinoff, Saperi Systems,” said Emory Fry, M.D., co-founder of Cognitive Medical Systems. “As a military veteran and business executive, she brings a unique blend of senior government, defense, and corporate experience that will help catapult the company to new heights. I’m excited to see what she’ll do in this role!”
While serving in the Marine Corps, Murphy planned, coordinated, executed, and supervised a wide array of logistics functions, including supply, maintenance, transportation, general engineering, and health services in a variety of environments, including stints in Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the course of her 24 year career, she held positions of increasing scope and responsibility — from platoon commander through command of an aviation ground logistics squadron.
Transitioning to the BioPharma industry in 2013, Murphy achieved a broad portfolio of experience that included procurement, supply agreements/contract administrations, warehouse operations, logistics and cold chain distribution. Her industry experience in a fast-paced and highly-regulated environments ranges from clinical-stage (start-up) through high-volume commercial manufacturing for both the U.S. and European Union markets.
Murphy received her bachelor’s of science degree from Eastern Michigan University and Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation through APICS.
“Cognitive Medical Systems stands at the forefront of helping patients, providers, and payers utilize health data to improve healthcare delivery while significantly reducing administrative costs measurably,” said Murphy. “Our technology services help connect the otherwise complex and fragmented healthcare system, and I’m beyond excited to be a part of this great team!”
